Everything you need to know about beauty’s best pharmaceutical:
The question I receive most often in my Instagram DMs is “what kind of mascara do you use?” I tell everyone the kind of mascara – but WAY more importantly, that the reason my lashes are sooo long is because I use Latisse. It is, by far, the best and most effective product I have ever used.
I’m going to answer some questions I receive frequently after I tell people I use Latisse. I am not a medical professional – I am simply sharing my own experience! Also, to be fully transparent, I am sponsored on Instagram by Apostrophe which is an an online dermatologist, where you can buy Latisse. If you’re interested in that route, use code SASHA to save $20 on your first order. I will receive a small commission.
BUT – this blog post isn’t sponsored at all and I even am sharing a hack to get Latisse for really cheap through your own dermatologist. I just truly want to share the magic of Latisse with the world because it is THAT GOOD!
How long have you been using Latisse? Does it really work?
I have used Latisse on and off for several years, beginning before my wedding in 2015. In about 16 weeks (or less, in my experience) it transforms average looking lashes to long, luxurious, jaw dropping lashes. Latisse is not recommended during pregnancy and nursing, so obviously I do not use it during those times, but other than that I will NEVER go without it. It is truly my most beloved beauty product, ever
How do you apply it, how often do you apply it, and how long does it take to see results?
I use one drop of Latisse to each lash line nightly, by releasing a drop into the bottle cap and applying it to my lash line with an eyeliner brush, then repeating with the other eye. (I do not use the applicators. This is definitely NOT recommended, but it is my personal preference.) It takes about 16 weeks to see results, but I have found that once it is “in my system” it works much quicker. Some people cut down to one drop for both eyes, and/or to every other evening once they reach their desired length. I prefer to keep mine at the recommended dose, because I love to have a dramatic look to my lashes.
Have you had any side effects?
The one side effect (other than amazing lashes) that I have noticed from Latisse is a slight darkening or redness of my upper eye lid. This isn’t very noticeable and it is easily corrected with makeup. I have heard that Latisse can darken the iris, which I haven’t experienced. I have not noticed any other changed to my eyes. I will caution you, however, to not use Latisse during the day. I once did, as I was going to be in the car for several hours and thought I could give my lashes an extra “boost.” Somehow it interfered with my contacts and I couldn’t see clearly, so definitely don’t try that!
How much does it cost?
Prices can range. I have paid anywhere from $120 to $175 for a 5mL bottle and in my opinion it is 100% worth it. However, I have a huge hack to cut the cost of Latisse! Ask your dermatologist to write you a prescription for bimatoprost – the generic version of Latisse. Then, use GoodRx for a coupon – I have gotten a 5mL of generic Latisse for $60 this way! It is literally the same exact thing and works just as well.
