Wondering what to wear on your next Disney vacation? I’ve got you covered! We recently took our first trip to Disney as a family and I definitely experienced some #DisneyStyle successes and fails to share with you all!
DO: BUY THE EARS
We went to three of the parks (Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom) and I bought a different set of Minnie ears to match my outfit each day! Yes, this is a frivolous cost but honestly when else are you ever going to be able to walk around in Minnie Ears all day like it is a totally normal thing to do?! If you (unlike me) are good at planning ahead, you can buy some ears in advance to coordinate with your daily looks. I’ve seen some super cute ones on Etsy!
DON’T: HAIR EXTENSIONS
I made the mistake of wearing my clip in hair extensions to Animal Kingdom. Between the aforementioned ears, my sunglasses and the hair extensions, there was a lot of pressure in my head/scalp area. They do make for a cute pic (see below), but honestly, it wasn’t worth the (literal) headache. The other two days I kept it simple with a low bun and was much more comfortable.
DO: FANNY PACKS
Disney is literally the perfect place to rock a fanny pack. You definitely don’t want to be carrying a heavy tote, or even have a cross body weigh you down. If you have little ones, you can put your belongings in the stroller, but there are often areas where you’ll have to park the stroller, and carry your things. Fanny packs leave your arms and body totally free and are SO CUTE. I found this perfect fanny at prior to our trip and my only regret is not getting it in every color.
DON’T : HEELS
I made the fatal error of wearing heels to Disney. Just… no. Learn from me and do not do this. No matter how comfortable the heel (like the innocent appearing wedges pictured below) you will be walking A LOT and by the end of the day you WILL be in pain.
DO: PREPARE FOR THE WEATHER
Disney weather may be very hot, humid, chilly, sunny or rainy – maybe even all in one day. Layers, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats and even a change of clothes (especially for the little ones) are all good ideas! I tried to stick with light, breathable fabrics and brought a jacket which I wore in the mornings when it was chilly.
DON’T: TAKE IT TOO SERIOUSLY
Disney is all about happiness and fun! Reflect that in your style! To me, the ideal Disney outfit has character, a pop of color and pays homage to the magic of Disney! As long as it is cute (and comfortable!) you can’t go wrong!
